Whether a patient wants to enlarge their breasts, lift their breasts, or do both Dr. David Altamira can help. Patients that are experiencing sagging from aging, weight changes, or pregnancy can reverse those effects through breast surgery. Surgical breast procedures offer women the option to achieve the aesthetic they have been looking for. Dr. Altamira offers three breast surgery options including breast augmentation, breast lift, and breast lift with augmentation.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation, also known as breast enhancement, involves increasing breast size. Women often seek breast augmentation to restore lost breast volume. Dr. Altamira increases breast size with a variety of implants including silicone, saline, and gummy bear, or with a fat transfer. With implants or fat transfer, patients can expect the results of breast augmentation to include a round breast shape, improved breast size, and better breast size symmetry.

Breast Lift

Breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that lifts and reshapes sagging breasts. By trimming excess skin and tightening the supporting tissue, patients can reverse the effects of aging and gravity. Dr. Altamira offers a range of incision types for all degrees of sagging and hidden incisions that result in minimal scarring. After a breast lift, patients will have firmer breasts that sit higher on the chest. Additionally, Dr. Altamira can reposition and resize the nipple to further enhance the breast.

Breast Lift with Augmentation

A breast lift alone does not change breast size, therefore, it is often combined with breast augmentation. Breast lift with augmentation, or an augmentation mastopexy, is a combination procedure that lifts sagging breasts while increasing the size and enhancing the shape. The procedures are performed together so the implants, saline or silicone, are placed after the breasts have been lifted. Dr. Altamira recommends an augmentation mastopexy when sagging cannot be corrected by implants alone.

Are Breast Lifts and Augmentation the Same?

No, breast lifts and augmentation are not the same. A breast lift, also called a mastopexy, is performed to reshape sagging breasts after childbirth or weight loss. Breast augmentation, or a mammoplasty, is performed for patients who want a larger cup size. Augmentation involves using an implant, whereas a lift involves removing excess skin.

Can I Combine Breast Augmentation With a Breast Lift?

Yes, these two procedures can be combined into one procedure. When the procedures are done together, your breasts can be reshaped, and their size can be enhanced as well.

Am I a Candidate for Breast Augmentation?

Ideal candidates for breast augmentation are patients who are in relatively good health, live an active lifestyle, and are at or close to their ideal weight. They also have realistic expectations of what having breast augmentation will and will not do.

Will Breast Augmentation Correct Sagging Breasts?

In most cases, no. Breast augmentation is done to increase your cup size, not correct sagging. If you have excess sagging of your breasts due to weight loss or childbirth, a breast lift can help restore a more youthful appearance to your breasts.

What Is the Recovery Period Like After Breast Augmentation?

After surgery, you will need to wear a binder around your chest while your breasts heal. You will also need to avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting until you are cleared by your doctor. You may have swelling and discomfort, but this will subside as time goes on. It is important to follow up with your surgeon as directed to ensure your incisions are healing properly.
