Some of our patients come in thinking that fillers and Botox are basically the same, but this is not the case. They each work differently, have a specific purpose and are designed to provide outcomes in unique ways.
Fillers can lift, restore lost volume and erase wrinkles and scars
We will take a unique approach to improving your age-related skin issues. Today’s modern techniques mean that we don’t simply fill in your lines, but we work to create a more youthful overall contour. So you may need a combination of both lifting and filling. We look at each area of the face and determine how filler injections can be used to improve the appearance of your entire face.
Botox is an injected treatment, but it’s not the same as filler
This popular treatment works to smooth and erase wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing the facial muscles that cause them.
Typical areas for filler treatment
- Your cheeks
As we age, we all lose some volume in our cheeks. Filling that area can be a good place to start because adding volume to the cheeks can offer support and improved appearance to the whole face.
To address the early signs of this sagging and lax skin problem, we can use fillers or injections your own fat to add volume to the mid-face and cheeks. This works to pull of the sagging skin in the jowl area.
Other areas that can be improved with fillers
- Tear troughs
- Underneath eyes
- Nasolabial folds
- Marionette lines
Some areas that can be improved with Botox
- Forehead wrinkles
- Frown lines between the eyebrows
- Smile lines around the eyes
Fillers and Botox are both temporary, and a facelift may be the answer
Of course, surgical facelifts last the longer than fillers or Botox, often turning the clock back a good 10 years. However, you will continue to age from that surgical “reset” point. Most patients return for a touch up lift around eight to 10 years after the first facelift.
