The Key Differences Between BodyTite and Liposuction
- Posted on: Oct 31 2023
If you are interested in trying a body contouring procedure, you may be pleased to find there’s more than one option.
Liposuction is a procedure for removing pockets of stubborn fat that has been otherwise resistant to other weight loss methods. The procedure can be performed on the stomach, buttocks, thighs, arms, and hips.
BodyTite is a minimally invasive form of liposuction that removes fat and shapes the arms, stomach, chest, back, and thighs.
If you’re looking for a body contouring procedure, discover the differences between BodyTite and liposuction and find the right option for you.
How Does Liposuction Work?
One of the biggest differences between liposuction and BodyTite is the procedures.
With liposuction, Dr. Altamira utilizes laser-assisted tumescent liposuction. First, he injects saline, an aesthetic, and a blood vessel constrictor (epinephrine) into the targeted area, causing it to swell and making it easier to remove fat cells. Then, a laser is used to liquefy the fat, making it easier to remove with the cannula. Once the fat has been removed, the laser is used to tighten the skin.
What Is the Procedure for BodyTite?
A key part of liposuction is the cannula, which suctions out the targeted fat cells. With BodyTite, a cannula is also used, but it has an internal electrode attached to the end and a metal wand–which remains outside of the skin–with an external electrode. Radiofrequency energy is emitted from the tip of the cannula and passed to the external electrode. This heats the fat without damaging any tissues. While the cannula suctions the fat cells, the radiofrequency energy liquifies the fat and tightens the skin.
Which Option Is Right for You?
Overall, because BodyTite uses radiofrequency energy, it provides benefits that Liposuction cannot, such as smoother body contouring, increased collagen production, and less downtime.
However, liposuction is great for targeting larger areas of the body and achieving your aesthetic goals.
Speaking with Dr. Altamira is recommended when deciding on the best option for you. As a board-certified dermatologist, he can provide you with knowledgeable recommendations based on experience.
