Saline Breast Implants
Saline implants are a very common format of breast augmentation implant. They are silicone shells that are then filled with body-safe saline fluid to give them their form. Some benefits of these implants are that they have some level of adjustment availability once they are in place. This requires a small incision and them being filled with more saline if a bigger size is desired, obviously within reason. If they become too full they can be more prone to rupturing. Which given the natural saline solution inside them is not harmful to you at all. But the empty shell will need to be removed and replaced.
Silicone Gel Breast Implants
These implants are very similar in format to saline implants. The main difference is that instead of saline filling the shells, it is silicone gel. What this provides is a more natural feeling implant as reported by many of our patients. And while it doesn’t have the saline solution that your body can absorb, the gel is harmless to your body if there ever is a rupture scenario. The gel and the broken shell simply must be removed and replaced.
Gummy Bear Breast Implants
These implants are known to be firmer due to them being a solid silicone gel. If they were cut in half, for instance, nothing would leak out, they are a solid mass. They are called gummy bear breast implants because of the thicker gel consistency that they are made from. They are also crafted in a teardrop shape which is closer to the shape of natural breasts.
