beautiful girl with magnificent breasts chic.Have you always been unhappy with the size of your breasts? Has pregnancy left your breasts less perky than they used to be? Are you considering plastic surgery to change your breasts? Once you start looking into your options, you will notice that there are two different procedures: breast lifts and breast augmentation. So what is the difference between the two? And which one is right for you?

What is a breast lift?

A breast lift is done to lift and reshape the breasts when they are sagging a bit lower than you’d like. It doesn’t change the size of the breasts – excess tissue is removed so that breasts will sit higher on the chest, will have more shape and volume, and will be more symmetrical and firmer.

What is a breast augmentation?

A breast augmentation procedure adds volume and shape to the breasts and can also increase the size. This is done with implants: saline, silicone gel, or “gummy bear” implants. Your doctor will be able to go over the pros and cons of each type of implant to help you decide which type is right for you.

Which procedure should you choose?

The procedure you choose will, of course, depend on the results you would like to see. However, you should know that having a breast lift with an augmentation is an option! And, depending on what other plastic surgery procedures you are considering, it may be possible to have them done at the same time as your breast procedure.

Before undergoing a breast procedure, you should be in good overall health. You should have realistic expectations about the results of your surgery, and you should only consider having a breast procedure for you and no one else! Any future pregnancy or nursing will change the results of your breast procedure.

If you have breasts that sag or if you’ve always wanted a bigger chest size and a curvier figure, a breast lift and/or a breast augmentation may be the answer for you! Dr. David Altamira, in Sugar Land or Houston, can go over all of your options and help you decide the right procedure for you. Call (713) 271-9000 for an appointment today!
