What to Look for In a Facial Scrub

Facial ScrubWith winter in full swing, it’s now more important than ever to take proper care of your skin. By staying hydrated, moisturizing your skin, and using a facial scrub a few times a week, you can help to keep your complexion soft, smooth, and 100% healthy this season. However, when shopping for a facial scrub, it can be hard to know exactly what to look for. Read on to learn more about what you should look for in a facial scrub.

1.Salt or Sugar
Depending on the type of skin you have, it’s good to look for either a salt scrub or a sugar facial scrub. Made obviously out of organic ingredients, both of these types of scrubs are ideal for getting rid of excess dead skin that has built up on your face and lips. If you can’t seem to find a scrub that is made out of either salt or sugar, consider making your own.

2. Salicylic Acid
If you are prone to oily skin or acne, look for a facial scrub that has salicylic acid in it. This all-natural plant based ingredient is the perfect solution to help fight current acne and prevent new acne from showing its face. Just make sure to avoid your eyes and mouth when using a product with salicylic acid, because it can cause extreme irritation.

3. Cream or Gel
If you are suffering from extremely dry skin, you might want to consider looking for a cream scrub. Cream scrubs are typically more gentle and moisturizing than their gel counterparts, however, they can be harder to find in most drugstores. If you have to, order one online.

If your skin is oily or normal, then you want to consider using a traditional gel based facial scrub. Gels tend to strip your skin a bit more of oils that cause acne, which can be great for individuals who suffer from oily skin.

Taking care of your skin during the wet, dry, winter season is very important. And understanding what to look for in a face scrub is equally as important.
